The research programme aims to inform the development of future clinical information systems, looking ahead to the next one or two generations of systems.
Specific objectives of the programme are to:
- quantify the benefits that Open Health Informatics can provide
- identify the barriers to adoption
- inform decision makers, across the spectrum of professions involved in appraising technology for clinical information systems
The Open Health Informatics research programme combines work by MSc and PhD students, together with applied research in collaboration with primary and secondary care providers. Outputs include the development of reference platforms and pilot implementations for evaluation. Students contributing research have been studying at MSc and PhD level at City University, London, the University of Victoria in Canada, Fordham University in New York, and the University of Oxford.
