John Chelsom made a presentation on “Preparing for the Digital Transformation of Healthcare in Ukraine” at the two-day conference on Digital Transformation of Universities in Ukraine held at the Ukrainian Catholic University (UCU), Sheptytsky Center in Lviv

The key message was that universities in Ukraine must prepare now to teach Health Informatics (a new discipline) so that skilled graduates are available to advise on strategy for digital health when the reconstruction of Ukraine begins.
Without that advice, and without a “Made in Ukraine” approach, there is a great risk that Ukraine will make the same expense mistakes on digital health that other countries in Europe and North America have made over the last 20 years.
